More About Yanasa Leather Goods

Indigenous Made Leather Goods

Yanasa Leather Goods was founded in 2020 by Caleb Wofford, an aspirating leathercrafter of Cherokee (ᏣᎳᎩ) citizenship and Salish (Séliš) descent. Inspired by hardworking, entrepreneurial, and artisan family members, He sought a creative outlet that represented his heritage, need for creativity, and as an expression of himself.

Driven by the need for a notebook cover and a need for something to do during a pending lockdown, Caleb decided that he did not want to pay $20 for a cheaply made Amazon cover. Instead, he decided to spend several hundred dollars to make his own (and several other items). Surprisingly, others were interested in his pieces and thus a Covid craft becomes a micro-business.

Yanasa Leather Goods strives for a high standard and quality for its products and service. All products are handmade; every cut and every stitch is done with care and detailed attention. While parts of the product are sourced from around the country, the final product is proudly made in a tiny shop in Idaho.

Yanasa Leather Goods Beliefs

Quality Beyond the Final Product

Simplicity

We value simplicity and minimalism. We offer a handful of leather options or colors, multiple thread colors, and a few hardware finishes. We want you to be as proud of your pieces as we are. We believe in simple and usable products.

Our products embody our values: clean lines, simple finishes, and minimal features. We do not feature too many extra card slots, high gloss edges, or multiple pockets. Clean, simple, and not overly complicated.

Craftsmanship

We are proud of our hard work and craftsmanship. Every one of the products we create is hand-cut, hand-sewn, and hand-finished. We do this because it allows us to become a part of the work and get a real feel for every cut and every stitch. Every piece is unique and is handmade to order.

We believe in using high-quality durable materials. We go out of our way to provide the best leather, hardware, thread, and tools. We use full-grain bison leather, Ritza Tiger thread, and bee's wax from my parents' beehives. We want to sell you a product that lasts forever and can be handed down.

Service

We value our customers and our interaction with them. Our highest compliment is a repeat customer. We have strict standards when it comes to our manufacturing and shipping process and never settle for less.

We’re constantly innovating and improving to meet the latest needs of our customers, and do whatever it takes to ensure complete satisfaction. Please contact us if you have any questions or issues.

Community

We believe in giving back to our community. A couple of our products have donations associated with them. These items will have information on where your support goes. Yes, these items are marked up a little bit but a good portion goes to charity. We try to vet our charities so our donations go to causes that are worthwhile.

Money is sent off as soon as your purchase is complete. Giving back is important to us because we have received so much. We are constantly working to find good causes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which countries do you ship to?

Currently, we are only shipping within the United States. We are looking for affordable ways to expand.

Do you accept returns?

We do not accept returns. Please send us a message or an email to info@yanasaleathergoods.com. We will do our best to work with you to figure out a solution.

Do you do custom work?

This is a tough question. We are a one-man business and not currently full-time leathercrafters (someday, that's the dream). We are willing to do some custom work. Please send us a message or an email to info@yanasaleathergoods.com. We will talk and see if we can fulfill your needs.

Can I buy your goods at a shop or store?

Right now we only sell online. We have not partnered with any shops or stores to put our products out into the world. Someday maybe. Farmer's Markets or a craft show in the future. We don't plan on ever having a storefront of our own. Having a storefront would drastically increase the cost of our products and we pride ourselves on delivering a well made leather product at an affordable price.

Do you bulk orders?

We could. We are a small shop and have limited materials on hand. It would require a lot of notice and time for production. There would also be a down payment required. Email us at info@yanasaleathergoods.com

Can I have product to help promote on my social media?

No. We are a micro-business and can not afford to give away products in the hope that you will use if for your social media. Please don't ask. You are welcome to share what you purchase on social media. Please tag us with @yanasaleathergoods and in return, we will share your post.
