The YLG Leaf MMIW Earrings are full-grain bison leather earrings that are lightweight, strong, and go with just about anything. The YLG Leaf MMIW Earrings feature a string of beads: black, red, and white. The silver hardware used is nickel-free and long-lasting. These earrings are very minimalist but are meant to be worn as a conversation piece.

Behind the Name:
The YLG Leaf MMIW Earrings carries a strong meaning and strong message. First the name, MMIW stands for Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women. There is an ongoing crisis where 1000s of Indigenous women and girls are murdered or missing every year with nothing being done for them or their families. This hits communities very hard and cripples families.
The purpose of these earrings is to help bring awareness to the MMIW cause. The beads on these earrings are lined up from top to bottom in Morse Code. Black beads are spaces, red beads are dashes, and white beads are dots. The message reads as /--/--/../.--/ or MMIW. The bison leather is folded around the beads to symbolize protection. The leather wraps up the beads to keep them safe and protected just like what we should do for our indigenous women and girls.
These earrings are priced a little higher than other earrings but $20 from every pair will go to Native Women Wilderness or the National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center. Other organizations may be considered. We are dedicated to No More Missing Sisters.

Products are handmade to order. Each piece is unique and will have slight variations. No two pieces are the same, even from the same hide. Because free-roaming bison is used, it can contain range marks, scratches, scars, sores, and may have dark blotches. Most large marks are not used.
All products are made from full-grain bison leather, from American bison. All thread used is Ritza Tiger Thread. Hardware is sourced from various places at the moment.
